I like the Spanish but I love his English because I finally understand what he's saying! So do I. Alfi post one of MAS interviews in English which was a bonus for me, I loved it. My Spanish is very limited so it was nice to hear MAS talk about the type of movies he likes and the actors he admire. It was a nice interview which I could understand.

Honestly because of the way S3 ended and by the time I watched it entirely, I figured S4 would be the last as much as I hated to admit it. Because of the way I thought S4 would play out, once A/A reunited with their son I knew there wasn't much story left to tell. However now that S4 has aired I feel cheated because in S1-S2 and even in S3, Ana and Alberto had complex obstacles to work through, both internal and external. In S4 things are happening a little too easy for them now that I feel like there's more story to tell no matter how S4 ends on Wednesday. Maybe if the season had been longer like S1-S3. But this feels rushed. Even in Downton Abbey, you knew the show was ending but it felt organic and many of the original tensions between the characters were still there. S4 of Velvet had too much plot-driven material instead of the character-driven material that drew me to the show. The 5 year time jump was clearly something the writers came up with late in the game and while I get it since MAS was only going to be in 1-2 episodes, it was far from ideal. I thought Alberto would come back at most halfway through the season which would be 13 episodes at least and was all pumped up for some angst between Carlos/Ana/Alberto because I thought Ana and Carlos would be married when S4 started since the characters made it sound like that's what needed to happen to protect Ana from more social humiliation. When I saw S3 I knew most of what would happen and the show was promoting "Alberto vive" as the theme for S4 so I thought he'd return soon and we'd get scenes of Alberto persuading Ana to be with him and leave Carlos. The social pressures that kept A/A apart have gone away too easily. Now it's all external, plot-driven stuff. Well, I'm in the minority when I say I wasn't that impressed with the reunion. The slow motion and then instant making out didn't do it for me. Realistically, Ana should have been asking some questions right then and there. Passion should have been built in the exchange before they instantly fell into each other's arms. Too simple, too easy. I felt they glossed over a lot of stuff, including what should have been very emotional scenes, in favor of gimmicks. They didn't want to ask and answer questions, so they came up a contrivance like the fire to mask it. It felt very rushed and somewhat forced because the fact is, they haven't been together in quite a while. They needed to build the relationship back up a bit. The show was slow moving for the first 9 eps, now it's like a speeding train. I get that MAS left them, which is why I think they should have reworked S3 and wrapped it up or just do a 2-3 hour special instead of an entire S4 that went nowhere until the last 2 episodes anyway. Carlos's only commupence will be getting punched out, not surprised, but disappointed. The 5 year gap was a terrible move, 1-2 would have been better. Plus they didn't exactly embrace the 60s aesthetically or pop culturally. The show still looks 5 years behind, including the fashion. Yeah, I find it weird when MAS speaks English, though he's gotten better. He has a wonderful voice in Spanish, but the only way we can probably follow his next projects is if they're English speaking roles. Apparently his character is a big hit in Sense8 and he has great comedic timing from comments I've read. So I think he can play a lot of different types of roles. We are just used to him in Velvet. FYI, ladies, he said in some recent interview he said he doesn't have a girlfriend.😍 Well acting wise I loved the reunion because I love PE and MAS on screen together but writing wise I wanted more build up too. We could've had most of the episode with them talking and working everything out honestly.

That whole episode should have been about Alberto

I can read Spanish pretty well and from articles I've read this isn't the first time MAS has left a show in a lurch. Last time the show was cancelled. What was the other show?

I thought the reunion actually lacked in intensity (also possibly an unpopular opinion on here). Their initial moments together. The kissing seemed a bit technical to me (like Patricia and Enrique's kisses) - not like the moments they shared in season 1 for example. I agree with you in that the they have a lot to rebuild (which I think can come later - I agree with Clara that they can question each other later), and also with who said that this season has been plot driven rather than character driven. I still don't understand why she wasn't excited that he was alive and coming back, she looked like she was dreading it more than she was dreading he wedding to Carlos. I was so happy they finally go together though. I did feel they brought the intensity I was looking for when she revealed they had a son. What a tearjerker. FYI, ladies, he said in some recent interview he said he doesn't have a girlfriend.😍 Yay Except I'm not single, so I shouldn't be having these thoughts.

I thought it could have been more intense. I think more dialogue could have built the passion and intensity. Even just saying, is it really you? Something. I didn't like how they basically let him off the hook with the lack of phone calls to Ana. I didn't like the kid reveal either, I would have loved to have seen Ana tell him she learned she was pregnant right after he left and then see more than the 10 second reaction we got. I was hoping he would be shocked and ask some questions. Then see the kid and all the emotions would come out. Seems like the kid will still be ill when they see each other. Not what I expected. I guess I wanted him to be filled in on things that happened last season, that she tried to chase him down at the airport, that Cristina attacked her, why she was with Carlos all these years etc.. If I thought we would ever see these scenes I wouldn't mind, but we won't. It just seems too rushed and unfinished. Carlos not getting a more severe punishment is tragic! I thought Raul had the most heartfelt reaction by far. He's fantastic. MV/Cristina also really brought it. She's great in those scenes I must admit. That was me about the plot vs. character driven this season and sadly even with Alberto back that continued. I don't get it either. I understand Ana's nervousness before he pulled up, but her first reaction was my problem. I would be feeling nothing but pure joy, before reality set in. After that you start to wonder why he didn't make contact and what's happened in the last 5 years. The fact that they played the same song when they reunited that they did when she was crying in the Carlos wedding dress was really a WTF moment. It was also a rather campy song. Lol Thought are ok, as long as that's where they stay 😉😆

I saw that interview too, MAS is a smart actor but he needs to have a speech coach. They can teach him how the intonation and other things work In English. To talk in a interview is totally different from speech in acting. I hope he doesn't use his time for fun and adventure instead of advance in his career.

One of my favourite lines was Raul (reading Jonas's letter from Paris): Ooo. It is this afternoon. LOL

Lol Thought are ok, as long as that's where they stay 😉😆 I brought up the plot driven vs character driven stuff too. I thought they brought the intensity to the reunion kiss. If there was any problem it was in the choreography and that it was a slow kiss. I thought the Alberto Jr reveal was raw considering the situation. I'm not sure how it could be more intense than Alberto learning he has a child just as he has to rescue him in the worst way and immediately has to jump into daddy-mode. Especially since we just saw him tell Cris he doesn't have any children. Yes Ana and Alberto have some rebuilding to do but they still have time during the finale. I hope while they're waiting for news on Alberto Jr. Ana has a chance to tell him about the pregnancy, when she found out etc. I'd like a love scene too but I'm not getting my hopes up at all for that. As for Ana's initial reaction about Alberto being alive, I didn't have a problem with it. It was true to Ana. She's always been afraid to have faith that she and Alberto can make things work together. When the show began he'd been gone for what 10 years? Ana only decided to run away with Alberto when she found his letters and realized her uncle hid them. She couldn't marry Carlos knowing Alberto is alive but she didn't automatically think she and him have a future together because she had not a clue why he stayed gone for so long. Ana knows Alberto can easily find another woman to be with, and has done so. It makes sense that she'd be a ball of nerves until he pulled her in for the kiss in the rain.

The kid reveal scene was definitely intense because of what it was about but it could have included more of "you have a kid?" "it's mine?!" "but how" "you are the mother of my child" "omg I have to save him". We just have to take everything for granted because there is no time left episode-wise to explore the characters and their tribulations. Love Raul too!
