This is Alberto's writing in his diary like he was talking with Ana:July 4, 1960
Hello, my love, today I miss you more than ever.
I left Spain a year ago, to find a meaning for my life, beyond you.
After this time, I know it will never happen ... I must accept your decision not to
hurt us, however, your absence wounds me deeply [...].
January 2, 1961
I begin to think that maybe I can no longer go back to your side ever [...].
Let me still loving you even if I assume the distance that you still impose me.
Over time I expected you to answer some of my letters [...].
March 5, 1961
Congratulations, Ana. Today i would have surprised you with
something special for your birthday, but possibly
there is already someone who makes you happy [...].
This is Adele conjecturing/speculating about Alberto and his diary:I found hundreds of pages in which Don Alberto undressed to unburden himself with that woman; Ana Ribera.
There it was the great magnate wound. His Achilles heel, his great weakness. Everything was referred to her
and addressing her. His life had no sense if it was not with her, but possibly that cathartic exercise that permitted
him been writing daily in that notebook freed him from the anxiety of feeling alone. That was Don Alberto.
A lonely soul, which gradually was discovering, according to his own words, that time had turned him into a fierce,
wild animal, seeking his way in solitude with no intention of attacking anyone.
Perhaps for that reason he had not worked with anyone in the atelier before.
He was very clear when I joined, he had never had the support of anyone else,
except in the warehouse. He tried to avoid contact with people, but after reading
a good part of his diary, I found that he didn't avoided contact with all kinds of people,
but especially with women. So he limited their visits to the atelier. That is why
he protected himself about maintaining a lasting relationship with his clients.
Three unique tests and he never see them again.

What really happened with Alberto Marquez? The novel 'Noches de Terciopelo/Nights of Velvet' reveals what we won't see in Velvet. The past of Alberto Marquez in New York as the owner of the most selected atelier of haute couture of the moment, an atelier as enigmatic as him, where at midnight their exclusive clients transgress all the limits.
