Gran Hotel Season 2: Deleted Scenes
ORIGINAL DELETION: This is a scene that was NEVER aired on Spanish TV but was included on the Spanish DVDs as bonus material.
NETFLIX DELETION: This is a scene that aired in Spain but was deleted from Netflix when Netflix edited the episodes.
This list is very much a work in progress, and I'm not sure how well the organization works, so I may change some stuff around later. Please check back later for more details/pictures/etc. Thank you for your patience! (Also, yes, I'll do this for Season 1 and Season 3, too, but Season 2 is the one I have the most information ready for right now.)
SCENE DESCRIPTIONS
No Dialogue: This is a deleted scene that does not include dialogue. These scenes are usually quite minor (like a character walking somewhere).
Minor Dialogue: This is a brief exchange that was cut in the middle of a larger scene (usually just one or two lines).
Major Dialogue: This is a longer exchange that was cut in the middle of a larger scene.
Entire Scene: This is a scene, with dialogue, that was cut entirely from the episode.
FAQ
"Why were some scenes cut from Netflix?"It seems that an effort was made to keep all of the Netflix episodes to about 40+ minutes, so the much longer Spanish episodes (which run well over an hour) were cut into smaller episodes. (For example, as you can see below, the first episode of Spanish Season 2 cut in half -- the first half is Netflix Episode 1, and the second half is Netflix Episode 2.) This is the most likely explanation as to why some scenes were cut.
"Is there any indication that the cut scenes were cut because the content was in some way objectionable?"
Not that I've seen (and I've been paying close attention). A typical cut scene is just a few extra lines of dialogue or a scene that the editor decided isn't needed to move the plot along. I haven't seen any scenes that appear to be cut because of violence, language, etc.
"Do any of the cut scenes change the direction of the show or our understanding of the characters once we see them?"
Many of the cut scenes are helpful viewing for fans of particular characters or relationships (e.g., you'll see below that some Javier/Adriana stuff was cut which fans of theirs might like seeing), and some of the cut dialogue is enlightening or funny. But I haven't seen any drastic cuts that totally change my understanding of the plot. Again, most of the cuts are quite minor.
"Where can I find the uncut episodes with the deleted scenes?"
The only sure way to see the uncut episodes is to buy the Spanish-language DVDs, though be warned that these DVDs are Region 2, meaning that they will not play on most U.S. DVD players. (I'm American, and I bought an external DVD drive to hook up to my computer so I could watch Spanish DVDs.) Also, the DVDs DO NOT HAVE ENGLISH SUBTITLES. Please keep all of that in mind before you spend money on the Spanish DVDs!
"Are there clips online of the deleted scenes?"
Not yet. If that changes, I'll post about it here.

Note: The second season in Spain was just these eight episodes. The second season on Netflix is all of Spanish S2 plus the first few episodes of Spanish S3. I have not yet gone through Spanish S3 to figure out which scenes were deleted from that season.
