My favorite couple!! I love Mateo a lot and his relationship with Clara more  Imo, Mateo really loves Clara even though he makes some mistakes. I'm happy we could see them happy in season 3 and not always breaking up then coming back together at every episode. They are really cute together  And my favorite moment is when Mateo appears at Pedro and Rita's wedding ( X). I also like the strip-tease a lot  ( X) |

Yeah Mateo's such a great character and Clara too. At the beginning I wasn't sure on them but that was mainly because I felt bad for Pedro but once all that sorted itself out I've been hooked on them every since. Season 3 did treat them pretty well in comparison to the previous 2.
Those are probably my favorite CxM moments too. I can't wait to see what's in store for them in season 4.

As I am re-watching season 1 final episodes, I find that Mateo's character has evolved quite a lot during the series (for the better!). As a whole, I really like their story as well as the characters. Sometimes it bothers me, though, that Clara is so different from Rita, even though they are close |

I talked about this on my tumblr, but for much of S1 I didn't really appreciate the Clara/Mateo pairing because I didn't think it was going to go anywhere substantial. I think I allowed the first impression I had of their dynamic (Mateo being attracted to Clara and willing to use her when it suited him + Clara being ambitious and wanting more than Pedro could give her) to color my opinion for most of their initial courtship. Otherwise, I think I would have realized that they were a couple being built to last. When I rewatch S1 and S2, they are absolutely one of the highlights.
I also have to hand it to the writers and Javier Rey for making Mateo's transformation so seamless. I think, in lesser hands, it would have come across as jarring and unrealistic that a playboy like Mateo would even entertain the idea of devoting himself to one woman for the rest of his life, let alone beg her to accept him. And yet, it works wonderfully.
I want to put together a list of favorite moments, but I'm going to think on it a bit more.

I wasn't a Clara fan to start with when she was working as a sales girl but I liked her when she became the new secretary and moved upstairs then she became one of my favourite characters she became different from the character she was when a sales girl.

She had such a fantastic character arc! And I loved how the show handled the quadrangle with Clara, Pedro, Rita, and Mateo. On so many other shows, that would have been an absolute train-wreck, but Velvet made it work because of the strength of the characters and the acting. Somehow, everyone was sympathetic, including Clara, the one character that a lot of viewers might have expected to be the least sympathetic because of her positioning in the quad. Watching her cry to Pedro asking why he loved her broke my heart. That was one of the most memorable scenes of S1 for me. |
