I agree with you, I think A/A would have had angst until the end. Although, maybe we would have gotten a better lead up to their reconciliation and subsequent wedding. I think Pedro and Rita's relationship was much better and more satisfying. I do feel the show had a lot of trouble evolving. Even if they threw another roadblock up with A/A, it probably would have still been caused by Cristina's insanity up until the end. In reality, Cristina should have been gone after S2. I couldn't believe we were supposed to believe she was still that obsessed with Alberto after years. The actress played crazy well, but there came a point where that's all she was projecting. I felt zero sympathy for her, where there should have been at times. Then they threw in her male counterpart, Carlos. It was all too similar. Even Carlos waiting on Ana for years was not very believable. The time jump exposed a lot of the shows flaws. Nothing seemed to change in 4-5 years except Ana becoming successful.
Yeah, the time jump was the biggest mistake, I think. It would have been far better to pick up, say, a year later. That would have allowed them to do most of what they wanted to do anyway: Ana still could have become a sensation after throwing herself into her work after Alberto's "death," there still could have been some angst with Alberto unexpectedly returning just as she has decided to move on with her life, Clara/Mateo could still have problems, Rita/Pedro could still be adjusting to parenthood, Cristina's revenge plot would make a measure more sense....
The only thing the five years gap allowed them to do that they couldn't have done with a one-year jump was have the kids be old enough to be a part of the story. But, really, would the angst have been that much less? Alberto would still have missed out on the birth of his child and the first year of his child's life. There's plenty of angst in that.
Oh well.
While not all of the VC-only characters are confirmed for the movie, a handful of them are, including Emilio's secret son (who was involved with Clara), Jonas's wife Marie, and Clara's assistant, Paloma.
I'm hoping, however, that they don't have much to do other than pop up and support the main characters. If this is really goodbye forever, the focus should stay on the fan favorites, and my impression is that the VC-only characters weren't crazy, crazy popular like, say, Clara's popular, A/A are popular, etc.
Someone step in to correct me if I'm wrong on any of this, because I binged VC S2 and didn't rewatch it.
Pedro mourned for S1, met a woman named Diana in the S1 finale, and then navigated moving on to a relationship with her in S2. At the end of S2, they got married.
Clara/Mateo are together, but I don't believe they are married...I think they came to an understanding that they work better if they are together/dating but unmarried.
Alberto Jr. has never appeared. We have, however, seen Manolito and Lourdes (Enrique/Barbara's daughter). Manolito was engaged to a young woman named Ines, and then he cheated on her with Lourdes. Then he decided to give up on Lourdes and go back to Ines. Not a great story, IMO.
Blanca mourned Emilio but now is ready to move on with her life...I think she's got a new fashion venture she's working on.
Raul had a terrible accident at the end of S1 that left him paralyzed. He had to have surgery in S2, and the surgery enabled him to walk again.
Jonas got married, as I noted above. I found his story/relationship with Marie pretty boring (I found most of the new characters boring). They're still together.
Enrique is still around, working on publicity or advertising, I think? Cristina returned in S2 (with an eyepatch) and was in a story with Enrique, but I'm blanking on the details.
