OK so this new Velvet collections show. Is it on Netflix or a Spanish station? Looks interesting.

I don't know if this excites me as much as it should. This will basically be the continuation of the 4th season and that was hands down the worst final season of any show I have ever watched. If Alberto was back and they could fix the fiasco of that storyline I might feel differently. I also don't understand their fixation on 5 years, technically it should be 1970, not 1967. Too bad about Rita and why they would bring Enrique back is a mystery. Unfortunately, it probably means he is still co-owner, so Cristina's return must not be too far behind.

Grace: As of right now, MAS is not listed in the cast, and the synopsis says that Ana alone makes the trip back to Spain, so I'm assuming that the bulk of the story won't be about Ana/Alberto, but rather about the other cast members.
Anon, I also didn't care for S4, but I don't think this is going to be a continuation of that season -- the primary story in S4 was the Ana/Cristina/Alberto/Carlos disaster, but in this new show, it sounds like Ana will appear only on a limited basis, and there's no mention Cristina or Carlos. So, thankfully, I do think that chapter is closed. And other characters like Rita, Patricia, Humberto, and Petra, who were key players in the other S4 stories, also aren't mentioned.
It sounds instead like they're going to reboot with a new story focused on the supporting characters.
The timeline of the show has always been screwed up, though, so the years being off now doesn't surprise me.

This just confirms that the reason they made S4 the way they did was because MAS left to Sense8 and they knew they could only get him to come back and finish up the series. It's a continuation of the show but without Ana/Alberto as the main storyline. It's why Ana will make appearances as needed but no mention of MAS. I think PE has a new show in the works anyway. This also explains why all the stories were left with gaping plot holes.
On the one hand I'm glad Ana/Alberto aren't the focus. Their story was finished when they got married and moved to NYC as much as I hate to admit it. But I'm also mad because their story was the draw to the series for me and other than them finally getting married, I don't like the ending they got. That seems to be the trend with my favorite international TV couples, the show starts off amazing but they don't get satisfying endings.
I don't know that I'll be watching this show but I will be following it to see what happens.

I'm not too sure about that northboundtrain. Barbara will be back in some way too and they seem to be adding more and more, so Cristina and Patricia wouldn't be out of the question. Carlos, Humberto and Petra were secondary players. They had season 4 to concentrate on all these characters and they didn't do a good job. They could have done a season 5 since the cast and fashion setting is the same, so I'm not sure why the need to move it to Barcelona. It seems to me that the network is the one who wanted to end Velvet and Bambu shopped it around to find a new home. That is why they committed to absolutely nothing in the finale because this was always their plan. I imagine it will look even cheaper than the original show. I'm with you Erulastiel, I will follow the goings on, but probably will not watch.

On the one hand I'm glad Ana/Alberto aren't the focus. Their story was finished when they got married and moved to NYC as much as I hate to admit it. Yeah, as much as I love them, they ended at a logical place. While I would have loved to actually see them be a married couple, if the show had ended in S2 (as seemed to be the original plan), we wouldn't have gotten to see that anyway. I don't know the specific shows you're referring to, but I've also noticed that about shows from other countries -- while in the U.S., many dramas have their stars sign contracts for 5+ years, that doesn't seem to be the case with shows from Spain and the UK, to use just two examples...so then when the shows are big successes and the stars want to leave, the writers are in a bind. I'm not too sure about that northboundtrain. Barbara will be back in some way too and they seem to be adding more and more, so Cristina and Patricia wouldn't be out of the question. I'm actually really excited about the Barbara news because 1. I love that character and AS was never given enough to do, so this may be an example of the writers deciding to mine a character with untapped potential, and 2. If this does mean that they aren't finished signing people, I still have hope to see Patricia again in a story that doesn't end with her and Enrique. True, but they played important roles in the stories of Ana, Raul, and Emilio, respectively, so with their departures, those chapters end. I agree, but I'm willing to give them another chance to see what they can come up with without having to deal with MAS's schedule. At the very least, I want to wait and see what spoilers we get from filming and interviews. If it looks like the same old problems from S4 are continuing, I think we'll be able to tell soon enough, and I'll adjust my expectations accordingly. I'm curious to see the answer to this, too, unless they think that the new location will offer the chance for some story or another that would be harder to tell in Madrid.

I think we're right to be cautious with the spin off, but until we have more details, it's hard to know how good it will be.
I think the move to Barcelona is a good move. They'll be starting a store from scratch, which brings opportunities for fresh stories that we haven't seen before. The new setting will also differentiate it from the main show, which will be important.
I doubt we'll see Rita, from a recent picture of many of the cast at lunch, she looked heavily pregnant. I still have my fingers crossed that she survived her cancer battle though and is in Madrid looking after the twins.

I started watching Cable Girls and decided to check here in case anything was posted. To my surprise and delight I found out about the Velvet Collection. I have to say I am so happy reading all your posts again. Season 4 posts were so much more exciting than the show. Happy to be back with all of you.

Season was such a let down/disappointment! It was fragmented and left a lot of lose ends. The story line wasn't credible. How could Alberto not know about the plane crash? The day before Alberto comes back to Velvet to sign papers to become owner again, there was another man who was to come back the same day to complete the transaction to buy Velvet. He would not have purchased the galleria anyway, because Anna had given her resignation. Marco nor his father seemed surprised to see Alberto alive. Why? Christina got away with arson and Enrique got away with murder. The producers/writers rushed through Season 4 and it showed in the final analysis. I won't be interested in watching the fall line up because even fiction needs some credibility in the narration of the story line... too many unanswered questions. Also, I watched the last episode of Season 4 on Artesplayer and the day of Ana/Albert's wedding, there were parts that were completely omitted in the Netflix version... integral events that gave the story closure. Thank you! PS. As you can tell, I really got into this series.

So i had to watch this show for a spanish class and got addicted!!! Ive no finished all 4 seasons in 2 mths twice 😂😂😂 i think my main draw was the Alberto/Ana love story so im not sure how i feel about them not being in the new series. Im excitef to have found this thread my friends dont get my excitment over a Spanish speaking show lol I just finished the finale last night and I laughed a little because the wedding at the end Anas hair was long and up in a bun so they obviously taped that scene before MAS left. i would have loved to have seen them continue velvet to new York and see them as a Married couple but reading the comments my suspicions that MAS left for sense 8( has anyone gotten into that???) Any word on when velvet collecion will be on netflix??

Hi, First off, I think that's so awesome how you had to watch Velvet for a Spanish class. lol It's very easy to get addicted. Ana and Alberto's love story was def the main draw for a lot of us. Especially from that very first episode! With Velvet Collection, Ana is in the first two episodes so there is a bit of a transition there. Though it def isn't the same without them. Though Velvet was never really the same after Alberto left, but since we knew he was still alive we still had that hope/inclining that he would return. About that finale, MAS did return to film the last two episodes, but the whole wedding thing was a bit all over the place. lol It wasn't shown in the Netflix version, but when they aired the finale in Spain they aired a "live" portion where MAS was involved in that as well. It's just that he did leave toward the end of s3 because of Sense8. Though he did mention in an interview that he was only originally signed on for Velvet for 2 seasons, but loved the show and loved how the producers/creators were flexible with his schedule that he agreed to be in season 3. But then when sense8 season 2 started filming, he wasn't able to do season 4 but really wanted to help complete the Ana/Alberto love story so he was able to fit 2 weeks into his sense8 schedule to film his scenes in those last 2 eps. But that's obviously why it felt really rushed. It's a shame and for a bit I hated Sense8 for that, but I really did like that show too (though it's not a show for everyone) and was sad it got canceled. I agree that it would have been nice to see them as a married couple, I mean, it took forever and it's unfortunate we didn't get to see it. As for Velvet Collection on Netflix, it still hasn't been announced, though I assume it'll eventually make it on there but maybe not since it's on a different network. But if you can't wait, I did sub all the episodes

Don't know if anyone has been watching MAS in Sense 8. As someone said, it is not for everyone and it took me a while to sort of figure it out. Now it is cancelled so MAS is free, but I doubt that he will return to this series. He just finished doing a voice part in the new animated Ferdinand movie and it seems like he likes living in California. Sense 8 is indeed cancelled, but the fans and the producers were so convincing that Netflix agreed to one more final episode so we will get closure and hopefully explanation of a lot of things in this very strange string of stories. I believe it will be a movie length final episode on Netflix sometime in 2018.
it was Grand Hotel that got me into Spanish TV and it is back on Netflix (power of the people-again) so now that I have watched all of Velvet Collection and binged Cable Girls in three days it is time to start over with Grand Hotel.
