Hi!
I'm from Montreal, Canada but living in the US right now. Watching these shows has been my maternity leave indulgence! I found out about the shows on Netflix. Perdiendo El Norte (Off Course) was the first Spanish recommendation based on my interests and after one more Spanish film I started on the Gran Hotel recommendation (I was liking Yon). I loved everything about it! When that finished I started Velvet. In fact I've been able to binge watch up until season 4 episode 7, now I have to wait like everyone else!
Age: Early 30s (but stopped counting at 27 ...) Birthday: December Country: Canada/USA Hobbies/Interests: Travel, Art, Languages, Foodie Are you a Grand Hotel or Velvet fan? Or both? Both! I thought Gran Hotel was such high quality show. Velvet's production quality and plotline isn't as well thought out but the show is just so fun, I especially love the comical & fun scenes with las chicas, Mateo/Clara and Raul. How'd you find out about the show/shows? Netflix Favorite characters: From GH: Julio, Ayala, Dona Angela, Alfredo, Dona Teresa, Catalina, Andres (aside from his naivety). From Velvet: Clara, Luisa, Rita, Mateo, Raul, Sara Ortega, Isabel, Ines (Not a fan of Barbara). To be honest, Ana annoys me sometimes because she is often the cause of her own suffering. I sometimes feel sorry for Cristina because she didn't really deserve what initial happened to her. Anything else you'd like to add? So many actors appear on both shows! There are so many plot/premise similarities between the shows too. As I got into these shows I started looking up the actors and so many of them are on so many other shows together!

Bonjour from France! Name/nickname: Globetrotter Age: 69 Birthday: September Country: France
Hobbies/Interests: seeing my nickname... my husband and I travel a lot, landscaping, roses, my computer and bing watching series!
Are you a Grand Hotel or Velvet fan? Or both? Both
How'd you find out about the show/shows? After finishing Downton Abbey, I had to find something else to binge watch, so I searched on internet, on forums for recommendations and found Grand Hotel. After that, someone somewhere mentioned Velvet and so.....
Favorite characters: From GH: Alicia, Julio (sometimes just too syrupy, if you get what I mean). Velvet: Ana, I love Clara's personality, Alberto, Mateo, and Rita
I fell in love with TV series when I downloaded ALL of Downton Abbey. That got me hooked! But I hate waiting a week to see another episode, so I have to find series which are ended or nearly ended. I just love sitting down and watching an episode when I want to, just like reading a chapter of a good book. No waiting,I decide!! Thanks to this blog, and all the work done to translate the latest episodes, I've seen Velvet series 4. Funniest thing is that lately I've been dreaming in spanish...but don't understand a word!!! What am I going to watch next??? Any suggestions, or is there somewhere on this forum to talk about other great series to watch? I've also finished a fabulous australian series called A Place To Call Home. Very good.
Mery Christmas and Happy New Year to all!

Hi, from canada.
I stumble upon Gran Hotel on Netflix over the summer last year and was hooked within the first 2 episodes. I like how they tell their series and loved the characters a lot in the series. Noticed the story lines got a little blah. Fav characters had to be Alfredo, Andrés, Julio and Alicia.
Then I remember Ramon Campos had another series on Netflix called Velet. Why not give then one a shot too. Almost done season 3 and googled season 4, Netflix doesn't have it yet. Stumble on this site. Story lines are better in this series. Also roman has a way of sucking you into his characters. Just love them again. Fav is Raul and Barbara. I'm also sad that I start these series and they're already done with the show. Velvet just ended in dec last year.
Good thing is Roman is working on a series for Netflix called Cable Girls set in 1900s, around that time. Also Yon (Julio GH) will be in it.

I happened upon this show Velvet, on Netflix and I'm so glad I did. . I have been hooked on it ever since. I love everything about it but there are parts of the story I think needed developing more. Guess it's because I wanted the story to continue more than 4 season. I think some parts of this story are not very credible. Some examples, when Cristina had Clara make her reservations so she could surprise Alberto in N.Y., Clara knew the romance that existed between Ana and Alberto, so why wouldn't she have given Ana a heads up? Another thing, after Alberto supposedly died in the plane crash and wrote Ana that first letter, that Carlos intercepted, wouldn't Pedro have mentioned it to Rita? He knew that Ana was using that pseudo name when designing dresses for that small dress shop. Men usually show more curosity than that and would have probably brought it up with Ana, asking her if she received the letter. One final thing that puzzled me is the fact that Alberto said he didn't know about the plane crash. To me that was not credible but maybe in the 50's more so. . Why didn't Alberto return to Madrid sooner for Ana? Mateo went to New York to bring him back but Alberto never explained why he was absent for 5 years, when he was so in love with Ana and wanted to have a life with her. I would have liked him to explain the statement he made to Mateo, that his travels changed his life. The casting of the part of Ana and Alberto's son: Pedro's son would have been a better choice because he looked more like Alberto did as a child. Manolito was much more handsome than the child who played the part and had so much more personality. Of course, that could be because of the writers and they wanted to portray him. This story as endless possibilities to run for many more episodes. I'm having withdrawals. The acting is excellent....great job!

Hi, I'm lilac . I hope this forum is not already dead. I first watched Grand Hotel 5 years ago and loved it so much. So I looked into other series of Ramón Campos and found Velvet. I liked Velvet a lot as well, but for me GH is superior to Velvet, because I loved the crime and mystery that Velvet doesn't have . I still haven't watched Velvet Collection yet. I hope Netflix will stream it soon in my country.
