I apologize that it's taken me 6 months to update this fic! I haven't forgotten though and so I'm going to try and update it a lot sooner than 6 months. This chapter is kind of short but I'm hoping to have another chapter up in the next week.
Yes! I'm really excited to write for these two. And I think you're going to love what I do with Enrique. I can already confirm that he will get what he deserves and that certainly is not Patricia. And yeah at first I was a little worried about how I could introduce these same characters and keep the same interactions even if with Rafael still alive but as I continue to write it seems like things just flow.
Aw thanks! And I actually don't but I do love to write. If I could go back to school, I'd probably go into writing.
Ana waits impatiently for Alberto on the roof. She quickly turns toward the door when she hears it open. She meets his eyes and then quickly looks away out toward the city skyline. Alberto slowly approaches her and wraps his arms around her from behind.
"I'm so sorry, Ana," he says with a sigh.
He feels comfort in being able to hold her in his arms.
"You don't need to apologize, Alberto. We knew this wasn't going to be easy," she admits.
"It's only for a few months. We found a designer, and if we can reach an agreement with him, the sooner this marriage is over," Alberto says with optimism
"I promise, Ana. Mateo and I are going to do everything we can."
He smiles and she can't help but smile with him at his enthusiasm.
"I don't doubt you, Alberto," she says.
He looks at her, this time his smile faltering,
"Are you going to be okay until then?" he asks
She looks out toward the beautiful skyline, holding his hands in hers as he tightens his hold around her waist.
"As long as we can still see each other like this; I'll be okay," she admits.
Alberto kisses her softly, knowing that was the only way he'd be okay too.
Meanwhile, downstairs Mateo heads toward the exit to grab the rest of his things for his new position when he runs into Clara.
"Hi," Clara greets him with a warm smile.
"Hi," he says, meeting her smile.
"And your girlfriend? Did she say yes?" she asks after a moment of hesitation.
"My girlfriend?" Mateo asks, completely forgetting his previous lie.
Clara looks at him, intrigued, awaiting his response.
"Oh, yes, my girlfriend," he admits, finally remembering, "the truth is.."
At the last moment, he decides to push the lie a bit further.
"No, she said no," he admits.
Clara somehow feels relieved.
"Bueno, I'm sorry."
"Don't worry. In the end, I think it's what's best for the both of us," Mateo says with a smile.
"Well, are you here to return the ring or?" she asks, curious.
"Oh, no. I'm actually going to work here with Alberto."
"Really? With don Alberto?" Clara's eyes widen in surprise.
"Yes, we're good friends. I was just going to grab my things," he says.
Clara smiles, quite pleased that she will be seeing more of him.
"Entonces, see you around," she says.
Mateo smiles as heads toward the exit, butterflies in his stomach.
Later that afternoon, Patricia heads downstairs to find Don Emilio. While Pedro and his cousin, Jonas, are trying to convince the floor manager to let him work there.
"Please, Don Emilio. You said you were looking for another sales clerk to replace Carmen," Pedro begs.
"Yes, but Carmen is still here until the end of the month," Don Emilio says.
"Is there other work I can do? I don't mind senor Don Emilio. Please, I came all this way," Jonas says.
Emilio looks at Jonas and can see the hope in his eyes. He can tell he's an honest man. He sighs,
"Fine, but he'll have to room with you until Carmen leaves," he says to Pedro "And you're going to take all responsibility for him."
"Yes! Thank you, Don Emilio, really," Pedro says excitedly.
"Thank you. Thank you very much," Jonas says to don Emilio.
Emilio begins to leave while Jonas and Pedro celebrate the good news.
"Don Emilio," Patricia says walking past the two cousins and toward Emilio.
"Senorita Patricia, how can I help you?" Don Emilio asks, stopping in his tracks and turning toward her.
Jonas stops what he's doing as his attention is now focused on the beautiful young woman.
"Primo?" Pedro says, trying to snap his cousin out of his daze.
"It's her," he whispers, "The angel."
"Senorita Patricia?" Pedro asks, shocked.
Jonas nods as he continues to look at her.
"No, Jonas. You can't be in love with her," Pedro states.
"Why not?" Jonas says, mesmerized by her.
"Because she's senorita Marquez. You can't, primo. I mean look at her. She's of a different world. It's hopeless."
As Pedro tries to lead his cousin away, Don Emilio calls Pedro over. Patricia still by his side.
"Pedro, can you escort senorita Marquez to get a uniform," he says.
"A uniform?" Pedro asks, confused.
"Yes, a uniform. She'll be working as a sales clerk," he explains.
Pedro's eyes go wide. He's completely shocked.
"Is there a problem?" she asks him, folding her arms.
Jonas lovingly smiles at her, waiting for his cousin to respond to her, but when he doesn't, he turns toward him. He notices his cousin's gaping mouth. He slaps him in the back, snapping him back into it.
"Ah, no. Sorry, of course. Follow me," Pedro says.
Yaaaaaay! I was wondering how you'd get Patricia and Jonas together, and now here's the answer. I love their first meeting (and got a good chuckle out of her reaction to Enrique -- very therapeutic! If he has to be here, I will trust your judgment).
I also continue to enjoy how the little differences between this fic and the show keep building on each other...i.e., how Rafael being alive keeps some things the same but changes other things.

I just discovered this story.
I really like how you write in depth to the character. I'm curious do you have a writing background?
