Hi, Anyone watched this? Starts airing here next week when Velvet is on break after S2. Is Peter Vives a good or a bad guy in this one -is there a danger that I start to like Carlos after watching this?

I've only seen the first few episodes...I thought it was interesting, but I stopped because I got caught up watching something else on Netflix and then never went back to pick it back up. I probably will try it again over the summer...though I'd have to start from the beginning, because I don't remember much.

OK so this show took me awhile to finish. Not that it wasn't good, but I don't know the episodes just felt really long even though on Netflix the episodes were edited to be only about 40 minutes long.
Peter Vives' character is a bit sketchy because you don't know who he actually is until the end of the show. Your not introduced to his character until a few episodes in and he's not in a lot of the episodes, but when he first showed up all I saw was Carlos. LOL But that changed especially after you knew who is character, Marcus Logan, actually was. I don't want to spoil you on whether or not he's good or bad if you do end up watching it, unless you want me to? haha
Overall as a show it was pretty good. In a way it is a mix of Velvet and Gran Hotel. You have a seamstress in madrid who runs away with a guy to start a new life only for that guy to betray her and then she gets caught up in espionage so there's that suspense and in some cases murder.

Yeah, I started watching it on the recommendation of a family member after I'd finished watching Velvet S1 on Netflix (in fact, I may have stopped watching it when Netflix released S2 of Velvet...that may be the show I got caught up watching instead), and I thought it was striking that this was yet another series where there was a seamstress...of course, the plot is very different from Velvet, and I agree with you VV that the episodes seemed very long -- there was a lot of plot, a lot of history, a lot of intrigue. Whereas Velvet stays away from most historical references, ETEC was the opposite (at least from the episodes I saw).
I don't even remember PV's character, but he may have come on after I stopped watching.

Just finished watching the last episode. I thought it was quite good in the end although there were some rather boring episodes in the beginning. I found it rather funny that the series had a bit of an unspoken feminist undertone as so many guys were evil and the women were the heroines . I wouldn't make any comparisons to GH (nor Velvet) though, as ETEC is not very love story focused. And gladly, Peter Vives as Marcus Logan didn't mess up my perceptions of Carlos

I agree. There were some rather boring parts especially at the beginning. Haha that is true it did have that. Although it's not very love story focused, I did see some other similar themes with GH and the only real similarity with Velvet is that she's a seamstress.

I watched this about 2 months ago and I really enjoyed it. I liked the Marcus Logan character (especially more toward the end) and looking at what else Peter Vives has been in lead me to start watching Velvet. I just finished S2 of Velvet, so erm, kinda disappointed in the Carlos aspect, but still a fun show.

Though I liked Marcus Logan I was iffy about him until the end because most of the guys on this show were untrustworthy. haha And also because since I had seen him as Carlos first I couldn't really shake that off until the end either. haha That's awesome how he led you to Velvet. Despite him being such an evil character on there.

I actually watched this show on Netflix when I visited my parents over the holidays and only just found 'Velvet' more recently, so my first impression of Peter's character was one of skepticism, as I wasn't sure if he could be trusted or not (by design, I assume), but I was pleasantly surprised with Marcus Logan by the end of the show, of course. Obviously, he's not nearly as sympathetic a character in 'Velvet.' I have a few more episodes to watch in season 3, but I don't have high hopes that he'll suddenly develop a conscience... : )
Incidentally, to continue the theme of the same actors popping up in a number of these programs.... Raúl Arévalo (who plays Ignacio in 'El Tiempo Entre Costuras') also plays Victor in 'Velvet.' When he first arrived on the scene in Velvet, I thought, "Oh my gosh, that's the dude from El tiempo, the guy Sira gets engaged to at the beginning of the show. I also thought I saw someone who looked eerily like him in the trailer for 'La embajada,' and sure enough, he's in that, too. It's been so interesting to see a number of the same actors and actresses appear in these programas de televisión adictivas (por ejemplo: El tiempo entre costuras y Gran Hotel y Velvet)!

(Not to get into an argument, but evil guys and powerful women have nothing to do with feminism. The miniseries can be interpreted as feminist because the woman is in a traditionally 'feminine' line of work yet capable of many other things and is only empowered by her 'feminine' skills.)
This miniseries is based on a novel and I may have to read that because this show was so good. I set a goal on Goodreads for 10 books this year (some of my friends set their Goodreads 2018 goal as 100 books which is probably more than I've read in my entire life, lol), so perhaps I will. And by reading, I mean listening to audio books, lol.
