Do you think Ana & Alberto's baby is a boy or a girl?
Post your thoughts in the thread after you vote!

I think it'll be a boy, but I'm going against the Montesino intuition so IDK. LOL Unless they pull a Belen and it's twins, a boy and a girl. LOL I really don't care what gender it is because it'll be cute to see all the love for that baby.

I voted for a boy because I feel like with Alberto "dead" the show would want to play around with the idea of Ana having a mini-Alberto. (Not that a girl couldn't be a mini-Alberto too, but I guess I'm thinking about Downton Abbey strategy here, where for some reason a child the same gender as the recently-deceased parent seems to hold more dramatic sway with the writers/viewers.)
However, I could also see it being a girl if only so the writers can have her name the baby Isabel. (Rolling my eyes here...I really didn't like Isabel.)
On a side note, a Melty article the other day pointed out that Javier Rey posted a piece of the script from the scene where Ana gives birth, and the stage directions call the baby "niño." However, as the Melty article admitted, "niño" could be both "boy" and "child." So who knows.

^that's a good theory. I will honestly be surprised if it's a girl. But again, either way it'll be great to see.
And yeah that's the thing about Spanish. There's so many different interpretations and ways things are said it's hard to know exactly what is meant. lol

And then the writer of the article admitted the wording could go either way.

^Yeah so I guess we'll just have to wait until filming starts and see if we get something.

Boy...she mentioned she would name him alberto..if it was a boy..that further drove cristina crazy so im thinking to keep the heat on iy would probably be a boy... im spanish and yes you're right nino can be either. But she also infuriated Carlos a little at the fact that if it was a boy it would be alberto..maybe its just my wishful thinking...btw..love the post! Thanks

Thanks I don't know if you saw it in one of the other threads, but the sex of the baby has now been confirmed. And I agree with you...I think there's more power in the child being a mini-Alberto given everything that's happened -- not just Alberto's death, but also his own serious father/son issues. And you're welcome! It's great to see a new poster.

We don't know who's been casted for their child yet, have we? I wonder how much we'll see their child for. As they'll be about 5 years old

I haven't seen anything about any children being cast for the show. Usually in the U.S. agencies will get on Twitter and announce when their child stars have been cast in something, but I haven't seen anything about new casting for Velvet aside from CV (Petra) and AL (Humberto).
I did wonder though if that puppet show the cast members were playing around with awhile back was meant to entertain children while they're on set -- there'd need to be at least three of them (little Alberto, Cristina's child, and Rita/Pedro's child).

In Spanish we have specific endings to denote the gender of words. If it had been a girl it would have said niña. Even with the word baby, the definite article would denote the sex i.e. el bebé = boy, la bebé = girl.

I'd always heard that it could be used to mean "child" (gender not determined) as well, but I'll admit I am not a native Spanish speaker. Welcome to the board!

This story of Alberto and Anna is my husband and I except we got married at 15 & 17 He passed away after46 years of marriage 2 Yrs ago and Velvet has completely mesmerized me and is all I watch on TV. I think the acting is superb The only complaint I have is season 3 ending of Anna giving birth was not done well. Too unbelievable for me but in no way could ever stop me from liking it any less ... I was so greatful that their was another season. Velvet is the only thing that gives me such joy...(except my children) So many times while watching, I say; I just LOVE this show...
